Ruby Doris Smith-Robinson was a Civil Rights activist who worked with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). She served in the field and as an administrator in the Atlanta central office. She later became the executive secretary, being the only woman to serve in this position. When attending college at Spelman, she became involved in the Atlanta Student Movement, participating in many sit-ins. Ruby regularly picketed and protested with others, in Atlanta. Ruby Smith-Robinson also organized an economic boycott and kneel-ins at white churches. She was arrested several times and served time in prison for taking part in the Freedom Riders.
