Prathia Laura Ann Hall Wynn (Reverend, Dr.)
Reverend, Dr., Prathia Laura Ann Hall Wynn was an activist in the Civil Rights Movement. She was also a womanist Theologian and ethicist. Her activism was instrumental in inspiring Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. While in high school, she became involved with Fellowship House, which is an ecumenical social justice organization. Hall was arrested for participating in the anti-segregation protest held on Annapolis, Maryland’s rural Eastern Shore. After graduating from Temple, Hall joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), becoming one of the first women field leaders in southwest Georgia. She was shot at and jailed many times in Georgia. With SNCC, she went door to door registering voters. She also became involved in the Albany Movement. After years of struggling with God’s calling, she decided to pursue divinity studies and ordination. While living in New York, she earned a Master of Divinity, Master of Theology and a PhD, from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey.
