Linda Carol Brown was a Civil Rights activist with a focus on campaigning for equality in education. In 1954 she became the center of the landmark Civil Rights case “Brown v. Board of Education”, when she was in the third grade. At that time she wanted to enroll at Sumner School in Topeka, Kansas, but her admission was denied due to her race. The “Brown vs. Board of Education” lawsuit was in protest against segregation in elementary schools, which was victorious in overturning the “separate but equal” rules. In adult life, Linda Brown became an educator and Civil Rights activist, advocating for equal access to education in Kansas. She was also a public speaker and education consultant.
