Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.
Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.; later named Muhammad Ali after joining the Muslim faith, is likely the most noted boxing champion America has ever produced. He is known for being brave, flashy, competitive and outspoken about racial injustice in America and around the world. He fought several historic fights which are still marveled to this day. Ali is also noted for releasing two studio albums, both of which received a Grammy Award. He was also a featured actor and writer, releasing two autobiographies. He is also known for refusing to be drafted and entering into the Vietnam War in protest for equal rights for blacks in America. While the courts decided his faith for dodging the draft, Ali attended speaking engagements at colleges and universities across the country criticizing the Vietnam War and advocating African American pride and racial justice. Ali was a very high-profile figure of racial pride for African Americans during the Civil Rights movement and throughout his career.
